Who's this Juan guy?
I'm Juan Guzman, a software engineer from Cali, Colombia. I build backend systems (APIs, microservices, and the cloud infrastructure underneath them) and I write about what I learn along the way.
How I got here
I started my career in 2021 at Zero to One, a startup in Cali where I wore every hat and learned to ship fast. From there I went remote, building full-stack products for US companies at Fulltimeforce and Crossroads Group. In 2024 I joined Globant as a Node.js developer, and today I'm a Software Engineer II at Command Alkon, working on the systems that keep the construction materials industry running.
What I care about
- Reliable systems over clever ones. Boring technology that works at 3 a.m. beats a fancy stack.
- Teaching what I learn. I create content on TikTok, YouTube and my newsletter so other developers in Latin America can grow faster than I did.
